Much Is Restored, or Miracle update: At least they feel like miracles. The lost files? That file of a years worth of art work that I inadvertently grabbed and deleted? Much of it has returned to me without any effort. Accidental redundancy. People sending files back that I had shared. Much is restored. In the mail today I got a thank you note for some work I did as a friend. And hand drawn bouquet of flowers with the note to look on the Kickstarter page...the contribution there is my vase of beautiful flowers. AND a box from John John F. Ptak with vintage ephemera. John knows vintage/collectible paper and knew the biggest loss were my scans of old papers. MUCH IS RESTORED in his box of loving goodness. In the midst of shocking loss (fill in the blank, there are many to choose from) it is difficult to step out of the circle of overwhelm into personal context. Already in the works are national ties connecting to Whidbey Island teachers - connecting to me. Already a generous offer to fund the journals that I will take into the classroom. Ive been teaching personal journal practices to kids since 1986. (One of those kids grew up to be an author peer in my Viva Editions family. How cool is that?) I will continue teaching and hoping that putting a pen in the hand of a kid might keep that hand from harm to themselves or others. A Kickstarter campaign that is almost half way funded and theres still two weeks of opportunity to go. Vibrant health returning after a nasty encounter with a cold. Much Is Restored. So, if you are experiencing overwhelm at a sense of loss today, look for an opportunity to step in to a circle of context and see what you see. Often times the pendulum swings like that...from the greatest loss emerge the greatest opportunities for good. I work today to inspire my self and others. And I take encouragement into every hour of the day knowing...Much is restored.
