Much of todays Pop Theology is based more on humanism than the Bible. One of the biggest battles the Church has faced historically is the onslaught of Secular Humanism. Today, I believe the Church is facing something far more deceptive that I would call Spiritual Humanism. It is the merging of humanism and the Gospel. This is a deep subject that will require much wisdom and true spiritual discernment, and it cant be fully explained in these few sentences. Basically, Secular Humanism is the exaltation of the human SELF to the exclusion of God. Spiritual Humanism is the same exact exaltation of the human SELF mixed in and supported by belief in God. In this thought process, God exists for the pleasure of man instead of man existing for the pleasure of God. It is all about us, who we are, and what we can get out of the deal instead of what Jesus deserves as the reward for His sacrifice. Be careful of any gospel that talks more about SELF than GOD.
