Muhammad Ibrahim, the National Publicity Secretary of the Arewa - TopicsExpress

Muhammad Ibrahim, the National Publicity Secretary of the Arewa Consultative Forum has implored the federal government to stick to quota system in recalling about 10,000 retired Nigerian soldiers to deal with insurgency. If there is any policy the Federal government must abandon and avoid like poison it is quota system military recruitment. Time and again it has been proven that Boko Haram collaborators in the military were behind the heavy losses and challenges the army have been facing in the war against terror. These collaborators are from Northern Nigeria not Southern Nigeria. Why not engage in strategic recruitment or train a Special Force like the us Naval Seal and use them to tackle Boko Haram? Sending every Dick and Harry to Borno State in the name of fighting insurgency is a policy dead on arrival and a statement of failure. It shows the military are yet to develop a cogent plan against insurgency. Whatever the case quota system must be abandoned.
