Mulenga Sata Appointed Acting PF Secretary General In what seems to be a well calculated move, Acting Republican President Wynter Kabimba is reported to have secretly appointed President Michael Sata’s son and Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata Acting Party Secretary General. Meanwhile, Post Newspapers Editor-in-Chief Fred Mmembe and Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito with full support from the acting President are in discussion with Mulenga to convince him to deputise Kabimba in the grand scheme to succeed President Michael Sata. President Sata is currently in Israel where the government claim he is enjoying a working holiday on the invitation of outgoing Israeli President Shimon Perez but various sources confirm the Zambian Head of State is admitted to a military hospital. Two sources one from the Government and the other from the party have both confirmed the development on Mulenga Sata to Zambia Reports. The sources however say something bigger is about to come up as Mulenga is being prepared for the position of Vice President. “It is not formal but informal. Wynter has appointed Mulenga to act in his position saying he will be busy because of him being acting President. It is not normal though because Mrs. Attanga is around,” the source said. The source said Kabimba does not trust his deputy Bridget Attanga because she believes he supports former Defense Minister Geofrey Bwalya Mwamba commonly known as GBM. “Kabimba does not trust Mrs. Attanga because he says she is very close to Tourism Minister Jean Kapata who is a close ally to GBM. “If you remember properly, the pro GBM group used to present the petitions against Kabimba to Mrs. Attanga, but it is bigger than this, the Bwinjimfumu group (Mmembe and DPP) and Kabimba want to convince Mulenga to be the Vice President Guy Scott also supports this,” the source said. President Sata was secretly sneaked out of the country on June 20 with initial reports indicating he was headed for London. There was no official announcement of President Sata’s travel plan triggering further speculation about his health which has recently been a major talking point in the country. President Sata’s appearance in public and subsequent images from the functions have sent chills into Zambians with the frail looking Head of State often feared unwell although government and himself have insisted he is well, fit and working at his desk. Growing speculation about President Sata’s secret exit later forced acting chief government spokesperson Mwansa Kapeya to officially confirm the leader was out of the country but in Israel on a working holiday and not London where he has routinely gone for medical check ups. Although there has been no known event or function President Sata has appeared where his images have been supplied to the media, the Zambian leader is said to be planning to meet Israeli President Shimon Peres when he returns from his US visit next week. zambiareports/2014/06/26/mulenga-sata-appointed-acting-pf-secretary-general/
