Multidirectional Instability (MDI) is one of the more common - TopicsExpress

Multidirectional Instability (MDI) is one of the more common shoulder conditions we see & treat in young athletes today. It is especially common in overhead throwing & racquet sports such as softball/baseball, volleyball, swimming, & tennis. Unlike traumatic dislocations, the initial symptoms may be subtle & without a specific injury, eventually leading to pain with athletic & overhead activities or a feeling of arm fatigue. Most of these cases can be treated with conservative care & physical therapy. When conservative measures fail, arthroscopic stabilization can be very successful in helping the athlete return to their favorite sport. If you or someone that you know is dealing with shoulder pain, check out our patient education section at CraigLyonMD or call to schedule an appointment at 262-245-0535.
