Mum question: I am exclusively breast feeding my 4 month old son. - TopicsExpress

Mum question: I am exclusively breast feeding my 4 month old son. I am concerned as my right breast has nearly completely stopped producing milk and my son only wants to feed from my left breast. Apart from being lopsided in appearance (lol) it is also getting painful feeding from the same side all the time. I am asking for advice on how to increase my supply for one breast... Pinky says: Will your baby feed more from your low side if you pop him on while he is sleepy? You can try breast compressions to encourage him to keep on sucking and empty your breast so it gets the signal to keep on producing. You can dream feed him on this one to help boost it or can you pump /express to try and help it catch up again? Does your baby seem to have a favourite side while lying down too? If so, a visit to a paediatric chiro or osteopath may help if favouring one side is due to some discomfort when he is in a feeding position. Have a look at this blog about expressing -there is a good video link at the end too - this will maximise the supply in your smaller breast - i.e. just express off the side you need to boost. beautifulbreastfeeding/expressing-breast-milk-making-it-easy/
