Mum question: Im due to give birth to my 2nd child in 5 weeks, and my son who just turned 2 (yesterday!) is still very reliant on me nursing him - in fact he has become more demanding of it the last few weeks as Ive gently tried to discuss with him the new baby coming. My milk stopped quite some time ago so hes been dry nursing since then, and relies on being nursed to sleep every day and nighttime by me (though hes always slept successfully on his own when he was in daycare). I know Ive left it til the last minute to implement these changes, and have really enjoyed our breastfeeding relationship the last 2 years, so have been reluctant myself to stop. I had even considered tandem feeding when baby arrives but I think Id rather wean him if I can to hopefully make life a little easier. My partner is really keen for me to wean him too. He is the one who will have to get him to sleep whilst Im in the hospital and Ive always been the one to get him to sleep at night. We dont have any family close by to step in, and my partner doesnt cope very well with tears and tantrums, they really stress him out. I desperately want this to be a smooth transition as possible for my son, and my partner and I, with as few tears as possible! Any advice and tips you can offer on doing this as gently as possible would be so gratefully appreciated Pinky says: There is still time to wean gently , have a look at my ebook Weaning with Love shopwithpinky/weaning-with-love-ebook-by-pinky-mckay/
