Mumba Mounts Vigorous Campaign to Reject PF Rigging Machine MMD President Nevers Mumba has stepped up his opposition to the electronic tabulation system by directing his members to discard any equipment that may be used in the Vubwi and Kasenengwa by-elections. Mumba said the MMD stood by their rejection of the electronic system that the Electoral Commission of Zambia has proposed to use as a pilot on the Vubwi and Kasenenengwa by-election. He said the move was in bad faith and could not be trusted to deliver credible results until it has been fully scrutinized. The ECZ has announced it will give the electronic tabulation system a trial run in tomorrow’s by-election in Vubwi and Kasenengwa. “It is a sham and is in bad faith and like we have said why have they picked on Vubwi and Kasenengwa only. The manner it has been done raises suspicion and we think it may affect the credibility of the election,” he said. “There is no consensus on stakeholders and they can’t force us, we reject it and we have told our people we do not want that equipment anywhere near the polling stations.” Tomorrow Zambia will have five by-elections in Vubwi, Kasenengwa, Zambezi West, Mkushi South and Solwezi Central. zambiareports/2014/09/10/mumba-mounts-vigorous-campaign-reject-pf-rigging-machine/
