Mummy challenge: Pukenga a.k.a. Wiremu Black born on Saturday the 29th of May 1993 at the Otepou school house, 7.04am. My labour started while teaching at kura...the day before, I remember lying in the floor in the classroom during labour pains. The kids were awesome and kept working. Later that avo I invited the form 2 girls to attend Wis birth along with their mums.. EOTC lol...about 6 of them came... Can you guys remember who came?? Wi was my first water birth and most painful....guess it was that big solid head of his lol...it came in handy though as a toddler... (get to that later). His arrival was timed well for the girls to head off to netball and the day to begin. Aunty Manu came to visit and gifted him with a pounamu toki that Uncle Bill had found and also bestowed upon him his name Wiremu after Uncle Bill...so Pukenga became Wiremu...Wiwi...Wi. My Wiiii...as a toddler was quite stubborn lol and would screw up his face and make siren noises as he cried and wined...and when you tried to get him to do something hed say...Kaaao!...Naaah! That head was an easy target...clip across his pinati... (that was before enforced political correctness). But Wi was no respector of time n place...and other public strategies were implemented. ..like pinching his butt..little more subtle but his face showed it all. Must say he was pretty tough though..great pain threshold. Sorry babe Ive carried that guilt for forever. Then came Whaea Maude Ririnui..she absolutely adored Wi...he in the beginning...not so much hehe... She loved having him stay...Unfortunately Wi being Wi was not always compliant so Maude and me would trick or bribe him into staying.... (such a bad mum). He loved Matua Tutch and lambs tails and was loved by his big sisters Lanita Ririnui-Ryan and MissKihi...not so much by Te Atiwei Ririnui lol. Wi is an inventor, a problem solver and when he puts his mind to something he is determined to the death. Once at an Otaki Te Rahui Kura kapa haka practice at the Otaki college gym (as a 12yr old) he ran around the gym...up n down the climbing walls carrying his backpack for 2 hrs. Even Whaea Oriwia (military background) was impressed. But my Wi...has the biggest heart..the softest easy going nature dont quite know when the stubbornness wore off.... I love you Wi and im soooo soorrry for being a horrible mum...ive been trying to make up for it though. Xxx
