Mums Query: Ive been renting a place with my 2 year old for nearly 4 months now, its a private landlord and hes said hed probably be OK with rent allowance after the first few months. When I started renting I definitely thought I was in a position to afford it but unfortunately Im really struggling with paying rent and bills. At the end of the month Ive roughly €100 money but more than likely something else comes up and its gone. I dont get maintenance from the father as hes not in the country or really involved, I work part time 15 hours a week and without my familys help with babysitting while I work, Id be lost. Ive also got depression, along with post natal depression and Im a coeliac so my shopping would normally cost a lot more. I was told that when you apply for rent allowance you cant have the likes of a tv/broadband package, Netflix or anything else that might be a luxury. Ive checked online but cant see anything mentioned. I cant move home as there is no room since my brother moved back in. I dont want to be put in emergency housing as I feel that will shatter what little confidence and independence I have at the moment and will certainly have a massive impact on my depression. Any advice because I feel like a complete failure at this stage?
