Murder accused surrenders before police KALIMPONG, 23 Jan 2014: The hunt for the accused in a murder that had taken place on January 17 in Pangthang under Santuk gram panchayat has come to end after the accused, Md. Samsad Sheikh, surrendering at the Algara police station on Wednesday. Bihar resident Samsad, accused of murdering Anikul Sheikh (46) on January 17, had been missing since the day of the crime. Anikul, a resident of Murshidabad, Bihar was a petty businessman who used to sell utensils. Samsad surrendered before the Algara police outpost at midnight. He was brought to Kalimpong police station today and presented in court from where he was sent to 14 days judicial remand. The accused has been charged of murder under IPC section 320. (EOIC)
