Muse I once found a diamond I could not keep It became obsolete Glittered as it may have done It carried the cross of my ardor I threw it across the street And the grass shone greener Held by a purer nature Glimmered in sunlit dew And the blades so soft and true Revealed the fragment of its shard Reflected in the mirror of its bearer In teardrops I can see much clearer the wearer became its treasure And the diamond was lost forever.
