Music Club Rules & Regulations Regarding Slots Due to an overwhelming increase in the number of bands, the Music Club board has decided to implement a new system for slots. Bands will now be categorised as either a First Tier, Second Tier or a Third Tier band. First Tier: In order to qualify as a ‘first tier’ band, you need to have won something in an external competition and have a steady line up. These bands are the only bands which are applicable to post for the 6 – 8 pm slots on the weekdays and the 4 – 6pm and the 6 – 8 pm slots on the weekends. Incase they apply for any other slot, they will get last preference for the slot. Second Tier: Bands which do not satisfy first tier criteria but have a steady line up and have already registered with the music club come under the following category. Second tier bands are applicable to post for the 4 – 6am, 6 – 8am and the 8 – 9:30pm slots on weekdays and the 10 – 11:30am, 11:30am – 1pm, 1 – 2:30pm, 2:30 – 4pm, 8 – 9:30pm on the weekends (also the 9:30 – 11pm slots on Saturdays). Bands which have female members are requested to opt for the morning slots on weekdays, for which they will get preference. Third Tier: Already registered bands with significant line-up changes as well as fresh bands, including first year bands, come under this category. These bands are applicable to post for the 4- 6am, 6 – 8am, 8 – 9am and 9- 10am slots on the weekends as well as the 4 – 6am and 6-8 am slots on the weekdays (though preference will be given to second tier bands for the slot). Rules during events: Bands playing at an event will get preference for slots over bands not playing for an event. Irrespective of which tier you belong to, an external event will be given preference over an internal event. Bands must mention what event they are going for as well as it’s date while posting for the slots. Another point bands must note is that they will only get preference for their slots one week before their gig. Slot preference will be given on this basis:- • First Tier band going for an external event • Second Tier band going for an external event • Third Tier band going for an external event • First Tier band going for an internal event • Second Tier band going for an internal event • Third Tier band going for an internal event In the eventuality that there are a considerable amount of bands who have shows coming up, all slots will be cut down to 1 hour per band irrespective of which tier they belong to. First tier bands are only applicable to post for the 6 – 7pm and the 7 – 8pm slots on weekdays and the 4 – 5pm, 5 – 6pm, 6 – 7pm and the 7 – 8pm slots on weekends. The rest of the slots available each day are open to both second tier and third tier bands. After finishing their event, a band cannot apply for a slot for 3 days. The VIT events counted as external events are Resonance, Raaga Reggae, Acoustic Vibes and Gravitas. Points to be noted: • Incase a band isn’t able to take their slot, please mention it on the page and/or inform a music club board member. • On days when no first tier bands take up their allotted slots, only then are second tier bands eligible to apply for those slots. If no second tier bands are interested in them, then a third tier band may apply for those slots. • Irrespective of which tier you belong to, please reach atleast 5 minutes before your slot starts. • Bands are advised to wrap up atleast 5 minutes before their slot gets over so that the next band can get to start their slot on time, without any delay. • If a band isn’t agreeing to vacate the room on time, the next band should report them to the music club board.
