Music Hall was completed in 1878, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and is well known as the home of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Opera, May Festival Chorus, and the Cincinnati Pops. Some lesser known facts are that shortly after it opened, it hosted the Democratic National Convention in 1880, and served as an impromptu meeting place, prior to what culminated in the Cincinnati Riots of 1884. It was also built on the site paupers cemetery, and as the graves were mostly unmarked, Music Hall was simply constructed over it. Last month, Music Hall (along with Union Terminal) was added to the National Trust for History Preservations list of Americas 11 most endangered historic places.
