Musician, singer and songwriter Dougie MacLean wrote a song that appeared on his Marching Mystery Album called When the people speak. For the last year, whenever someone mentions the Independence referendum The lyrics pop into my head and I can hear the song playing in my mind. I dont know what the song is really about, but its just there when the subject pops up. (I gather that Dougie Maclean is a yes supporter so I dont suppose he would mind if I post this) For too long weve heard them laughing at our dreams Ridicule our reasons And blind ignoring what it means For too long we have believed the walls they made But now we see a shining light and we are not afraid But when the people speak its not with corporate lies Its not with indecision no or academic bows and ties When the people speak it thunders through these hills Its not a thing thats mild and meek When the people speak Theres a fear thats made to keep us in our place Pacify our anger and justify our fool disgrace Theres a fear made to destroy and to degrade Bur now we see a shining light and we are not afraid I will be voting YES. I hope that on the 18th You will all make your own voices thunder through these hills. (whichever way you vote). https://youtube/watch?v=8RjanQY_ArA
