Muslim Extremists - what people think about when referring to Muslims. (example: ISIS, Al Qaeda, terrorists) Police Extremists - what people think about when referring to cops. (example: Bad cops) Christian Extremists - what people think about when referring to Christians. (example: Westboro Baptist) Biker Extremists - what people think about referring to bikers. (example: 1%er bikers) Motorcycle Extremists - what people think about when referring to sportbike riders. (example: Speeding crotch rocket riders) Race / Ethnicity Extremists - What people think about when referring to a particular race or ethnicity. (example: not necessary) The truth is, all of the above Extremists make up less than 1% of their particular subculture in society, although the news media will use these few examples to depict the majority of the groups that they identify with. Do I agree with all of them, no, but I do recognize that not all of each group are bad people that stirs up strife. Take the time to do your own research, dont just follow blindly along with what you see on TV. Get to know some of the folks from different cultures around where you live, and talk to the people. Sometimes the biggest, ugliest, baddest looking person could be a pastor, doctor, scientist, etc. Sometimes getting past stereotypes is more important than getting past differences in religion or ethnicities. If we get past the stereotypes we can get past the rest. Of course that also means that if we want folks to accept us for who we are, then we have to work to get beyond the stereotype that others classify us in. Thinking out loud again.
