Muslims must know the difference between the disgruntled person and a hypocrite. The disgruntled person will murmur and appear recalcitrant but their faith remains in tact while the hypocrite has no faith and his intention is to manipulate the congregation in a bid to weaken their resolve but maintain just enough faith to keep them in the jaamat but under his leadership. I have seen this many times in different jaamats where the hypocrites gained control and ate away the heart and soul of the jaamats in particular like termites devour the core of trees, weakening it so that it becomes hollow over time. This is what is meant in the saying; "They are like pieces of wood standing up."
