Mutual Aid Question From a Brother: How do you instill pride in a fire department? We have lost all sense of pride and older and younger generations are in the same mindset. For example, if someone drops a piece of paper ten guys will walk by it; with the mindset of someone else will pick it up. Also, our trucks, equipment, and station are not clean; I can understand a little dirt/dust, but when road grime/mud/dust covers five of our six trucks it really irks the leading group of five to eight firefighters. We have tried leading by example and we do not want to micromanage everything. Whats the best way? Then how would we keep the sense of pride going?
