Mutual Aid Question From a Brother: I’m currently trying to create a proposal and create a policy in which firefighters can use their own personal gear, in particular a leather fire helmet. Does your dept allow for firefighters to use their own gear like this? Do they prohibit the use? Does your dept have a policy or procedure saying yes or no? The road block I’m hitting is how to document, track and confirm they have been tested, passed successfully and documented. I’m asking for your help. If your dept allows you to use your own personal gear and has a policy or procedure, would you email it to me? I need to pull policies from neighboring dept.’s that accept this use.
