Mwanawasa’s Daughter Joins Edgar Lungu’s Campaign Third Republican president Levy Patrick Mwanawasa’s daughter Mirriam has joined the campaign trail of Patriotic Front presidential candidate Edgar Lungu declaring her support for the ruling party. Joining Mirriam – the first born daughter of the respected departed statesman – were other members of the Mwanawasa family including the sister, Eva and a distant relation Jazzman Chikwakwa. Mirriam has taken issue with former First Lady, Maureen Mwanawasa who she has accused of being greedy, and abusing the name of late President Mwanawasa by participating in active politics. Maureen is actively on the campaign trail for opposition United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema. Mirriam was part of the country that turned out to hear Lungu’s campaign message at Comment Groun in Kabwe on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, Lungu has disclosed that the Zambia Railways Headquarters will move back to Kabwe. He said the Zambia Railways Board should immediately implement its own recent decision to move the HQ back to Kabwe. He said there was no justification why the HQ was moved to Lusaka. Lungu also said the troubles at Mulungushi Textile had now come to an end as an equity partner has been found to revamp the textile plant. He also said that government was also going to invest in the Tanzania Zambia Railways (TAZARA) so that it could overcome its recent challenges of unpaid salaries and operational difficulties. The PF President also explained that the high fuel prices was a result of middlemen in the process. He also stated that the price of mealie meal would come down when milling plants are set up in places of production. He proposed that a multi facility zone will be set up in Kabwe to revamp all industries. Lungu was accompanied by his wife,Esther, Acting President Dr. Guy Scott, National Chairperson, Inonge Wina, ministers, Members of the Central Committee, and other leaders such as former Vice President, Lupando Mwape, and ABZ Leader Father Frank Bwalya. Scott urged the PF members to come together and explained that the internal differences and wrangles were now behind the party. He said it was imperative that the party worked together to retain power in order to finish the programs initiated by late President Michael Sata.
