My 11-year old kitty, Lily, has just been diagnosed with - TopicsExpress

My 11-year old kitty, Lily, has just been diagnosed with lymphosarcoma. She has a 4 cm diameter mass in her abdomen, which cant be removed because it is entangled in the mesentery and engulfs the blood vessels feeding her intestines. Biopsies showed that the cancer has already spread to the stomach, liver and intestines. Shes not eating; you can see her E-tube through which I feed her in this photo. We see an oncologist next week, when we will learn of our options. Im assuming her cancer is late stage, given how much it has already spread. I also assume that chemo will be mentioned as an alternative. My question is, based on others experiences, at this late stage, will the benefits of chemo outweigh the costs to the quality of whatever time she has left? What might be those costs? Do I put her through anymore pain and suffering than shes already experiencing? I raised her on a bottle from the time she was 3 weeks old. I cant believe this is happening. We will be robbed of many more happy years together.
