My 17 yr. old Pom has some sort of black, greasy gunk on the outside of both ears. My vet and groomer are both befuddled by it. I have tried topical anti-fungal creams both prescription and OTC, tea tree oil, Listerine and anti-bacterial soap on her ears to no avail. It is down to her skin and seems to come off in her hair. It doesnt seem to bother her....doesnt itch, etc. It is just ugly looking on my beautiful baby. Bathing doesnt remove it. The vet initially said it was probably something in her environment but nothing has changed. There are no veterinary dermatologists in our area. Any ideas for us? Thanks from me and Prissy.
