My Award Speech on the night of the Tony’s—I would like to thank….. It’s 2:30 AM and I just got in from my night out with Mom, and as I was pulling into my drive-way I sat and starred at the darkness hugging the houses and thought of all the people dreaming. Soon I will be doing the same. I already had a dream evening with my mom –she is doing better and we were surrounded by friends and fun and theater and love….and most of all kindness. At this age, so many tiny things make an evening great. People have no idea how much each small gesture means; but the combination of so many small gestures creates a kind of magic! My mom was beaming when she thanked me for this wonderful night. She said I should win an award for all my good planning—and that means so much to me…and I would like to share this award with you. Since Mom is slow moving and I am not far behind. I want to thank each person that helped us tonight. Thank you so much Nan & Dave Kent, two of my dearest friends. For sharing your night out with us and giving up your seats so that my mom could be closer to the aisle in case we had to leave. Thank you anonymous door holders, even the one that sneezed into my hair by mistake while holding my car door...…God Bless YOU! Thank you Kind waiters. Thank you church & theater ushers. Thank you lady I accidentally hit with mom’s cane. Thank you for laughing. Thank you car driver that stopped at a green light to let my mom get safely on the curb. And a very special thank you to the lady that made room for us in the Parking garage elevator—so my mom didn’t have to wait for the next elevator. AND Thank YOU again--- for stopping on every floor of the parking garage and opening the door on every floor till I peeked out to see where I parked my car….Floor SEVEN......LOL! And as always, I would like to thank God…for giving me this beautiful mom, this friend to share this night with. Good Night..drive safely..sweet dreams.
