My Birthday When I got up this morning He burned the toast He stuffed the meat Burned the roast He reaches me a flower Withering and dying Said it was because I took too long in the shower At lunch he came home His first break in months Tried feeding me cake Through my still closed mouth I was pulling my hair out From all of the stress He took me shopping Brought a ugly dress I was getting mad now But he persisted Took me to my favorite movie Yeah right... we missed it Gave me another flower It was wilting too Told me he found it In the park at the zoo I placed that stink flower In the trash out back I got bee stung Woe with me ...alas When I came back in The house was dark Candles was lit The table cloth sparked A raging fire happened next He threw himself on it Burning his chest Are you alright hunny boo I hugged him and cried Happy Birthday he sigh Well at least I tried Written by; Dora Robertson
