My Childhood Memories 16 :) Arrival Of New Tenants In The Neighbourhood :- - My Meeting With Future Life Partner :) After our neighbours left, a new family came to inspect the house. The new family comprised 3 generations, grandfather Mr Vaman Mallya (Aabu), grandmother Mrs Lalitha Mallya (Ollemma), and their 4 sons Mr Sadanand, Mr Sarvotham ( Vs Mallia or Olleppa), Mr Surendra (Sundappa) & Mr Sudhakar (Suddappa) respectively. Of them, the first son Mr Sadananda had married Mrs Ahalya (Allimmakki) & had 2 female kids Sucharita (Rita) & Sujatha (Baby or Girija). There was a guest also by name Mohandas Prabhu (Jayannu) staying with them. On the new tenants request, certain repairs & modifications were carried out to the next-door house, which was the other half of a larger house, one part of which was rented out to us. This included a permanent brick wall partition between the two portions, where originally a tar drum sheet partition on wooden frame existed, a platform built in the backyard, to provide for bathroom space, whole flooring chipped and refurbished and the walls given a fresh coat of lime. The elder son used to regularly visit the premises once or twice a week to confirm progress and at times, he used to bring the elder daughter also with him. One day, I asked the cute girl what her name was and shyly she replied with her lips without any sound and I asked if it was Eetha. Then she told a little louder, Rita. That was our first conversation. Some days later when I saw her again, I was trying to impress her. All I had to spare was a few stems of Betel leaves which my grandpa used cut off from his paan and I proudly offered it to her. She bit it and felt it was too spicy & had to spit it out. Till date, she teases me about my first present to her =D =P :)
