My Diary - 25th July 2014 I visited Venice with Manju and Aarushi in the month of May. We enjoyed smallness of the city. Few observations 1. The city was not just small but Tiny. 2. The total population of the Venice is just 60,000 people, translating to less than 20,000 families. In comparison it will be less than one sector of Gurgaon or Noida or smaller than Adyar. 3. The beauty of the Venice is undeniably beautiful. Everyone just walks. No vehicle of any nature are allowed. Even Bicycles are not allowed. 4. It attracts over 5 Million tourist every year. It translates that each citizen attract 100 more tourists. the whole economy survives and flourish on just tourism. 5. I was curious to know - how come such a tiny city gains importance in history. Where did it acquires its old wealth? 6. I also observe the power of less than 20 thousand families which is less than one tenth of Infosys or 1/15th of TCS can create such a big impact in the world. India has many cities (at least more than 15 cities) with similar or more historical significance of the size of Venice. a Big opportunity of growth for India. 7. The Venice doesnt have any natural resources. Its just the power of people and their alignment to purpose and leadership. Inspiring city.
