My Every Day Shero... Has three jobs.. two kids under the age of three and is studying to become a nurse. This is Jessica and when I met her behind the counter of the coffee shop in a small town in northwest Washington this past summer... She was beaming. I was so engaged by her bright smile that I had to know more about her and what I learned in under three minutes caught my heart in a thread of love she seems to weave wherever she goes. So I sat her down and begged her to tell me more about how she does it. How does a woman work so hard to make ends meet.. care for her children.. find time to be in school.. and still be so happy that every person who passes by notices? I dont know! Jessica laughs in response. Were so blessed. Our kids are so beautiful! Have you seen them? As she pulls pics up from her phone.. I can see a tear spill from her eye and I know its one of gratitude. No matter how hard it is.. my kids never do without. We may go without.. but my kids never go without. They love to explore and would rather play with oatmeal on the floor than with the toys they have. I like that.. I like to let them explore. Jobs are scarce in her little town.. so she picks up as many hours as she can at three different locations.. has secured grants and loans for her college classes and is blessed with family to help watch the babies while shes working. Her advice? It doest matter what others think... It only matters what you think about yourself. To get what you want and to be how you want to be.. Dont drink or drug.. Try in school and Respect your elders. Jessica admits that she learned all of this after having done it the wrong way. Now sober and living every day with gratitude.. her goals are high... first to be a Certified Nurses Assistant.. then a Nurse and.. Who knows? I might like to be a Doctor! One step at a time!.. she laughs. Jessica
