My Girlfriend (grandma, G Money) has Alzheimers. What I have learned is that her mind may fail her from time to time, but her heart does not. Shes held on to things I just knew she would forget because it becomes etched in her heart. This morning, before I spoke, I got choked up as I acknowledged her for the ROCK she has been in my life. Looking at her sit there was so beautiful. Shes so vulnerable and delicate at this stage in her life. As I spoke, she waved her hand, said some Amens! and Alrights! But after my sermon as she calls it, she looked at me and mouthed, I am so proud of you. I love you so much. Man, Family... I have lived a very long time for THAT moment. Shes been calling everyone telling them about it. She remembers!!! If I am never acknowledged again, Im good. My mama is here. And my granny has seen me in my element. Listening to James Cleveland Radio. Typing this post and looking at her. I have so much to be grateful for.
