My Godfather, my favorite Uncle, maybe the only Uncle I have left, went on life support a little while ago. Fav Uncle isnt even close by a long shot. He was sooo good to me as a young boy. One of the few people in my childhood who didnt say my comics we garbage. Hed take me to flea marts as a kid, bought me a ton of comics, actually, would just give me money and let me run wild. See ya kid he would say. And he would too, just as soon as I ran outta dimes. At the end of the day, on the ride home, hed say, wow kid, you made out today. In the summer, hed pick me up every Saturday, 6:00am, hed say if you didnt get there early, all that was left was junk. I wasnt arguing, Id bought every comic for sale before most people showed up. He was a New York Ranger and a Miami Dolphins fan. Thats where I got it from, so you see he made an impression on me as a boy. I rooted for who Uncle Minner liked. And have for 40+ yrs. We talked it up this year, with the Rangers run. We couldnt do that every year. He said the same thing he said every year, Well get em next year kid When my Mom died, in 1992, at the service, I was crying, and my Aunt Dottie came up to me, I was sitting, looking at the floor, she put her hand on my shoulder and I looked up at her, stood and hugged her, in her ear, I asked, is Uncle Minner here? She said, I knew that was the first thing you were going to ask me Of course he was there, he was always there. I went to see him, right after Stephanie passed, he said, You see them people raising their hands saying HEY! I just turned 60, 70, 80yrs old, Id like to kick em right in the ass, gimme 18, the hell with 80, for cryn out loud Man, he was funny. Handsome handsome man. Big and strong like a bull. Cool as they came, drove wing tip T-Birds and motorcycles. But not a flashy guy, just as cool and hardworking as they came. He was a mans man. Cant imagine anyone who didnt want to be him. Im going to miss him. Hes been there all my life. Hes was one of the good guys. They just dont make em like that anymore... ...Theyll never be another Uncle Minner.
