My Grace Is Sufficient When I struggled all those years with seizure and the tumor I would often hear about Paul and his thorn in the flesh. Like Paul, I had often asked God to remove this thing so I could go on with life. I was always encouraged by God letting Paul know that He was with him and would give him grace and strength sufficient for everything he faced. I heard the verse spoken to me so often that I wondered if there were anything else God wanted to say to me through it. I felt God leading me to look deeper so I did some research in the Strongs Concordance.. what I found was so amazing!! 2nd Corinthians 12:9 And He said unto me, MY grace is sufficient for you: for MY strength is made PERFECT in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME (King James Version with some emphasis added by me) I found some very interesting things in there and want to share them with you today.. and may I say this to start with..GOD IS AWESOME!! GRACE=(5485 GREEK) divine influence upon the heart and its reflection in the life SUFFICIENT=(714 GREEK) I AM (God) is enough to suffice.. all you need to make it (2425 GREEK) competent.. as if arriving on time.. ample.. enough.. good, great, large ability STRENGTH=(1411 GREEK) dunamis.. (same root word as dynamite) POWER.. specifically MIRACULOUS power, ability,abundance, strength, might WEAKNESS=(769 GREEK) feebleness of body or mind-- sickness, infirmity, weakness Could it be that even when I feel my weakest, my very worst, that God is still there with me.. still working in my life? YES!!!! God is always working in our lives even when we feel it the least. When problems seem the greatest and it feels like nothing will ever change, God is still working things out for us. At the times when we have little or no strength to go on, the greatest thing to remember is that when we feel our lowest God is doing great things in us. GOD IS ALL WE NEED FOR EVERY DAY AND EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE OF OUR LIVES!!!!!!! HE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR EVERY NEED AND EVERY SITUATION! With that in mind, lets look at that story again and see how we feel about it now.. it is not just there to tell us something about Paul.. it is there to show us the greatness of God in our everyday lives. 2nd Corinthians 12:1-10 (NIV) 1) I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. 2) I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know--God knows. 3) And I know that this man--whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know.. but God knows-- 4)was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell. 5) I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses. 6) Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than what is warranted by what I do or say 7) To keep me from being conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of satan to torment me. 8) Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me 9) BUT HE SAID TO ME, MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU.. FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christs power may rest on me 10) That is why, for Christs sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong
