My Grandad was a Stretcher Bearer in the war ,,he never had a gun but ran out on the battlefields through live fire with the other Stretcher Bearers to help and carry the dead and wounded ,, he wasnt a doctor or medic he was just a young aussie bloke, some say they were the bravest of all :) . He was there with the other Stretcher Bearers to bring wounded to safety and make sure the dead got home to there familys . I can only image how brave you must have been plus scared but held in such high regard by you fellow soldiers and family I remind my children of you all the time mate and I will always remember when I visited as a kid how we would sneak of the the Shenton park hotel without nana or mum Knowing so you could have a few cold Ponys and show me of to your old mates ,, ,,, a few hours later someone would come and gets us .. ) Thanks Grandad RIP Cobber :).
