My Great Grandfather Jack Didong Abraham was 107 years old when he passed away in early 1970s, was one of the Last Full Blood Binjareb Nyoongar, he had experienced both Worlds - Traditional ways of life and the Westernised ways of life. Granny Didongs Legacy to his surviving Bloodline descendants is Prideful recognition that we know who we are, where we came from and where we belong. Granny Didong asserted his identification and connection with his tribal territory around Binjareb Pinjarra country, long before the Mabo High court decision and the consequences of native title. Granny Didong had connections through tribal marriage and often visited around the Dale River area, Brookton area with his wife - Nan Marg Bennell. I can remember Pop and Nan Marg Bennell (RIP) living in Boddington near train line. Just out from Boddington, is his Fathers roadside memorial gravesite. This photo of Granny Didong was taken in Pinjarra around 1970s, although he didnt work at the garage, the Mobile garage work uniform he got on, was given to him. This newspaper article was by the former Journalist Howard Sattler. It was Granny Didongs and Granny Nabby Abrahams Father who survived the Massacre of Pinjarra. Some years ago, I was invited by (much love and respect to) Aunty Lesley Kearing/Morrison as Guest Speaker to pay tribute to my Great Grandfather Didong and to talk about Abraham Family connection to Pinjarra / Binjareb Country. Granny Didongs children, Langley, Gus, Maria, and Topsy. And accepted Nan Margs children has his own. My Grandfather is Langley Abraham (RIP) and had three sons Uncle Tony (RIP), Uncle Fred (RIP) and Uncle Gerald Abraham hes nearly 80 years old, and his only Daughter is my Mother Delores Abraham (RIP). Much Love and Respect....I Love All My Abraham families. Xox
