My Journey Home: ... Driving past Blackpool North I see a woman in her 40s trip over a curb and crack her head open on the floor, she beings fitting instantly. I immediately jump off my motorcycle and run over to her, as soon as she has finished fitting I see blood pouring from her head. I put her in the recovery position as she is unresponsive and then use my coat to stop the blood. Im then joined by a few other people who start to dial 999. I tell them all to take off their coats and put them over this woman to keep her warm. Then I spoke to her asking her name, telling her mine, asking if she was diabetic. No Response. then she begins fitting again and again, each time keeping pressure on her head and after returning her to the recovery position. She then instantly becomes responsive and I manage to get the name Keri-Lee Luxton or something. Could have been Kirsty ... She has no idea what has happened. I just made sure she was relaxed for another 15 mins waiting for the ambulance (it took 35 mins in total). I have never seen so much blood in my life, (and i work in a Dungeon) I had it all over my hands, my Top. .. When the ambulance arrived I passed her over and then spoke to the Driver. I told him what happened everything I did and he was shocked and happy telling me how i could have just saved her life, she could have choked or died of blood loss. AND THATS WHRE IT HIT ME. I started shaking. Adrenaline had gone, as soon as i realised this woman could have died i honestly couldnt believe it! .. I left it to the professionals, gave them my name and contact details... And then spoke to the others that joined. and I was amazed to know NONE of them had any idea out first aid. .. people can laugh at me about me being a Scout and whatnot, but IM THE PROUDEST SCOUT right now as if it wasnt for scouting I would have never known what to do and wouldnt be up to date on my first Aid. I may have lost a coat and shirt to blood stains. but someone has kept a mother/daughter! :) .. I didnt put this status up for praise or to say everyone look at me .. Its more to say ...PLEASE EVERYONE, BRUSH UP ON YOUR FIRST AID! WHAT WOULD YOU DO? I THOUGHT I KNEW IT ALL BUT THERE WERE STILL THINGS I COULD HAVE DONE. :) .. Im still shaking more than anything. I need coffee. :)
