My Kate is such a daddys girl. Tonight she wrapped the front of her hair around a giant comb. (Read: tangled mess that wasnt going to come out--EVER! I thought shed be 20 and still wearing the tangled comb in her hair.) She cried the entire time for her daddy, who wasnt here. We had to call daddy and explain the tragedy. He tried to comfort and console, but I was the one who ultimately untangled the rats nest and comb without cutting mini-bangs in the front of her hair. Who got all the hugs and kisses though? Daddy did. Ill admit, sometimes it hurts to not be the favorite, but my children are blessed with a daddy who would lay down his life for them and they know it! And, honestly, I didnt need the hugs and kisses to know how very happy Kate was or how thankful she was to not be cursed with a comb in her hair. The joy was all over her face. I would do anything for my children--and I know I will often not get thanked for it. Thats not why I do it. Serving our families brings its own blessing and gratitude that often wont ever be spoken. This is true: Until we figure out what wed trade our life for, we wont know what we should give our time to. -Bob Goff Id trade my own life for my kids and that man of mine. I cant think of any greater honor.
