My Mama had a send off to Heaven that was amazing! Her family flew into and drove to Oklahoma. She was simply lovely, with her white hair flowing down each side of her face. We placed special things on and around her and just filled that room with love... Love for her and love for one another. The next day, her sister-in-laws arranged for a mass and then a light lunch afterwards. It was lovely. My cousins and I were driven by the limousine to Lawrie Cemetery, a few miles north of Guthrie. The military was waiting there. We were seated and Taps was played. The ceremony of folding the flag was breathtaking. Then a soldier kneeled before me and gave me the folded flag. Again, the sister in laws arranged for a priest, who spoke briefly. Then my cousin, Margaret shared memories of Mama with us in such a sweet way. Jack, my cousin, then shared some things and then I spoke. Oh! When the priest was speaking, a strong gust of wind flew under our tent and blew a chair over. We all looked at each other and I said, Thats my Mama! After the graveside service, Fred, a cousin, set out to reset my grandmothers headstone. Jack joined in and so did Hayden, from the funeral home. Shes only a few yards from my Mama. We then took some flowers to preserve. What a special day it was! Xoxo
