My Mayzie scared the heck out of me this morning. Shes sitting on eggs in the brooder room and they are due next week. Well, Im used to hearing lots of peeping, and arguing in there from all the chicks doing their thing. Its actually comforting, and I can tell when something is wrong just by the sounds now. So, Im sitting there, just chilling out, having my coffee, when I hear a cat like screech coming from the room. Ooookay? My cat was outside at the time, and he never bothers the chicks anyway. He likes to watch them, but thats it. So I jump up, thinking there is a fight or something weird going on, and open the door. Well, everything was fine. Mayzie was just doing her daily walk off the nest to get food and water and poop. Apparently it was her making that horrific sound. I assume she was probably stretching, since I know when I just sit all day, then finally get up to move, I probably make a similar sound. HA HA! This chicken thing just keeps getting more and more interesting! LOL
