My Mlive comment rant for the day: We are all self determining. This is one of the basic premises the concept of individual freedom. In the United States, you can do pretty much what you want, economically or spiritually, as long as it does not harm others. We all choose our own path. If you wake up in the morning, grab your sign, and beg on the street corner for your living, then this is your right. Noone is harmed except for possibly yourself. You also can choose not to work at McDonalds, or Burger King, or where ever you choose not to work. No harm done, except to yourself and maybe, put a little strain on the welfare system or your family. Some people obviously find it better to beg. What does that say about McDonalds? Or your family? Or welfare? You can also choose to live in a truck instead of the gutter, if you beg for a living. If you work for living and make a lot of money doing so, you have many options for shelter, but you could also choose to live in a truck. Few of us do. We have so many choices. Many people here, like the militant busybodies who feel that their greatest cause is the persecution of lifestyles they dont agree with, choose not to support their arguments very well. That is their choice and we all have so many choices to make in life. In India, for 1000s of years, begging was considered a spiritual right of passage. The Bible says, For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land. We are also free to judge, but do so at the risk of our souls. Jesus said, Judge not. Are you worthy enough to judge these people? In your judging, are you trying to really help them, or make yourself appear righteous before the community? Is there anything else you could be choosing to devote your immense energies to? What are your real motivations? I think that there is something really offensive, really contrary to American values in this Facebook group whose soul purpose is to persecute people whose lifestyles they do not agree with. Do you really think these people are living it up, that they make more than you? And if they do, why begrudge them for it? If its true, just send the tax man after them. There are quieter, less hypocritical ways to deal with this.
