My Mom - Big Ethel - just called. On the Great Phone From the Sky. She wished me a Happy Birthday, just like always. And she sang Happy Birthday in a horrible tone, just like always. And then, she said, Hold on - a couple of other guys want to say hello....... And it was Secretariat. And Ruffian. And Forego. And John Henry. And Eight Belles. And Barbaro. And my little Dawnie. And The Moose. And big Charlie. And Man O War. And Citation. And all the rest. And, then, I heard something I didnt think Id ever believe - & you probably wont, either........but the Great Herd sang Happy Birthday to me! Thank you, Mom - for the greatest moment of my life! And thank you, all of the members of the Great Herd. We are all brothers & sisters into eternity.
