My Opinion to the situation in Esch: Seems like they don’t - TopicsExpress

My Opinion to the situation in Esch: Seems like they don’t really understand the uproar, because 1. Svitek is a european and as tey say non-professional and 2. clubs do the same thing in the women’s league and in second division and nobody talks about it! To the first point: there was and is a choice to make whether to keep Svitek or not. The last two years, all the clubs having a non-professional (I don’t even want to enter the discussion about Svitek being a pro or not) European in their roster had to do exactly the same thing. The teams sent their Europeans away, even if they lived next door and worked here. It’s sad and certainly not what the European Commission aimed at, but it’s what happened. Stefan Svitek is better and more professional than most of these players, but Esch should face and solve the same question as all the other teams: is he good enough to get one of the two foreigner spots or not? to the second point: what happens in the women’s league and in Nationale 2 is wrong at the same point. Only because the public interest in these leagues is lower and that there is no (or a weaker) public outcry, that doesnt make it right. There should have been strictness in applying the agreement from the start and no excuses and exceptions (such as arguing that the third foreigner isn’t that strong anyhow…). SO CONGRATS TO THE CLUBS THAT BROKE THE AGREEMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE: YOU ARE PARTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS NOW IN ESCH AND WHICH WILL AFFECT THE FIRST LEAGUE AND THE IMAGE OF BASKETBALL IN LUXEMBOURG IN GENERAL. STILL: ESCH USES THIS AS A VERY LAME EXCUSE AND IF THERE WAS ANY SENSE OF HONOR IN ESCH, THEY WOULDNT DO IT! Have fun cheering about possible titles you earn by cheating on the other teams. Personally, I wouldnt be able to. (reason posted by a petition supporter)
