My PCP finally returned from vacation and called me late yesterday. Most recent blood work showed that HA1C number, the most important for a diabetic, remained at a lousy 8.4. This despite eating better and walking more. Dr. K pretty much said that I will be an insulin-dependent Type 2 diabetic for the rest of my life. Focus is on control so as to delay any of the terrible consequences of this disease. He is starting me on Levemir, the latest generation man-made injectable insulin. You may have seen it being advertised on television. I will continue to try to eat better and walk further each morning.
