My Sanantonio Hill returns to men’s team workouts: UTSA forward Jeromie Hill has returned to practice, looking forward to his senior year after sitting out all of last season with a knee injury. “Knee is 100 percent,” he said. ”Been working out, doing everything the rest of the guys have been doing. I’m trying to limit the amount of pounding I’m doing. I’m doing full on contact. I haven’t felt any soreness. Feeling great. Can’t wait to get out there after 18 months.” Hill, 6-8 and 250 pounds, is only the sixth player in school history to surpass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. He returns to join a team that has restocked its talent after an 8-22 record last season, including 4-12 in Conference USA. “I’m very confident about our talent level,” Hill said. ”I like the fact that we have so many new faces. It’ll keep people guessing on what we’ve got in store. Our backcourt is very solid. We have guys who are very physical. We have guys who can take a bump. “They’re quick, smart, and they’re going to contribute a lot this year, even the young guys. I think a few freshmen are going to come in and contribute right away. A couple of good junior college transfers. We feel really good.” Redshirt freshman Larry Lewis, also coming off a knee injury, is expected to add punch to the backcourt. Coaches are also high on freshman guard Christian Wilson, who showed off quickness and a jump shot on the first day of formal workouts. Forward Phillip Jones and guard James Williams weren’t practicing because of unspecified injuries. UTSA coach Brooks Thompson said he is anxious to see how his team will develop. “To get Jeromie Hill back is big, no doubt about it,” Thompson said. ”But I really like our chemistry and the way our guys get along. We’re youthful in the backcourt. Our guards are really young. But I think they’re talented. “So I think we’ll go through some growing pains with maturity things like that, but we’ve also got some experience coming back, Jeromie, Kaj (Sherman) and Keon (Lewis), so we’ve got some pieces and we’re excited about it.”
