My Secrets- Part 13: Dont Bring up the Past Now, I’ll start this in another way of writing. More Specific (Jane’s POV) I jumped from the voice. It was Mike. “You scared me!” I shouted at him but not too loud. “Sorry, I thought you were a thief.” He said as he put his hands on his pockets. What? Thief? I playfully punched his arm. “Me? A thief? How dare you!” He just rubbed his arm while laughing. He is so irritating! “So, nightmares again?” He asked as he leaned on the railings. I just nodded. “You know, Red Gem is not even one bit close to Crystal Blue. It’s boring, full of arrogant students, bullies and etcetera.” He complained. “Arraseo. I’ll fix that. Stop complaining. I want peace for even just a minute. So he shut up and we viewed the City. However, I feel like he’s staring at me and wanting to ask something. “Spill it.” I said. “Alright. I’ve been bothered to ask you if…..” He paused. “If?” I asked and looked at him. He took a deep breath and asked, “Is he the one you met a long time ago?” I got confused. Whom is he referring to? “What are freaking talking about?” I asked back. “The kid you met in your childhood years. The kid you first broke a promise.” He said. “I don’t—“ I was cut off by his serious stare. “Don’t lie to me.” He warned. I just sighed. “He needs to know, Jane. It’s now or never.” He said. “He needs to know nothing. He’s fine right now. He probably doesn’t even remember me.” I said and started walking back inside until he pulled me back. “You can’t hide it forever Jane. Just like what you said, Forever doesn’t exist. And he remembers you. He sometimes ask, why you left him not even saying goodbye.” He said. “I just.. I just don’t want him believing that I’ll be there for him again.” I said and hugged Mike. I don’t want him to feel left alone again. Flashback It was Fall in 2004, 9 years ago. After I met Troy and saw the school, my mom enrolled me and my siblings to Crystal Blue but due I arrived late I had to wait for 2 weeks to start. So Mama decided to have a vacation in Seoul and now, here we are, Bukchon Hanok Village. We owned a Big Hanok here and to be honest, we have the most plot in here plus we have a big garden 5 minutes away. It may look normal outside but inside mostly everything is so high-tech. We have lots of rooms, we even have a Movie Room. There’s this indoor small pond at the center of the house where we call “Relaxation area” because here, we meditate, bond and practice Martial Arts like those in Karate Kid. But my most favorite place here is the Crystal Paradise. Right now, my brother and I are helping Mama arranging our stuffs until Oppa saw kids playing. “Mama! Can I play?” He asked Mama in Tagalog. “Of course but bring Jane. Your sisters are busy tending the garden near Mr. Kyung’s House.” Mama said and we just nodded and went outside. Oppa played while I sit on my shoes. I got used taking my shoes and sitting on them. I was looking at how they play until I saw a cute white puppy roaming around. “Oppa! A puppy!” I shouted but Oppa might not understand or hear me. I really want to play with the puppy so I wore my shoes and followed it. I already memorize this place. Hihihih… I followed until it stopped in front of a boy. A little older than me, I think. He was crouching while hiding his face in between his knees. The puppy came near him. Did you know, Dogs could sense if you’re sad? I went nearer and saw he just pushed the dog away. “Hey! That’s animal abuse!” I said to him causing him to look at me. “I don’t care!” He shouted while crying. His tears made me worried. I carried the puppy and sat next to him. “Is something wrong?” I ask as I rubbed the puppy. “I’m- I’m l-lo-lost! Waahh!!!” He cried out. “Stop crying. We’ll find your mom. Crying won’t help you find her.” I said while patting his back. He slowly calmed down. “Let’s go to my house. We’ll call the police to inform you’re with us. Mama was preparing pasta.” I offered him and he just nodded. I helped him stand up and he held the puppy. “Sorry puppy.” He apologizes to the puppy. We walked to my house. I said some jokes to make him laugh and he did. We arrived seeing my family looking worried. “Mama!” I called and raised my hands to let them see me. My mom noticed and quickly ran to me and hugged me. “Jane, where have you been? We were worried sick about you.” My mom said. I made them worried. “Sorry Mama. I wanted to play with the puppy. But Mama, I met him! He said he’s lost. Let’s call the police so his parents will find him quickly!” I said. Mama looked at him and smiled. “Come now, you must be hungry.” My mom said. The boy followed mom while I was left with Oppa. He hugged me. “Don’t do that ever again! I thought we lost you.” He said. “Sorry.” We walked into the gate. “Now, tell me boy, what’s your name?” I heard mom asked but I didn’t hear his answer because they were already in the house. We waited and ate. Oppa and him played with some toy cars. Few hours later, his parents arrived. We bid goodbye and he hugged me. “Thank you.” He said and let go of the hug. The next day, he visited us I finally know his name and I gave him one of my nickname, his mom talked while we played. For the whole vacation, everyday he visited us. But as days passed, I got sadder cause I know, we’re going to leave. I was talking to my puppy. Yes! My mom allowed me to have the puppy. As I was talking to my puppy or should I say, OUR puppy because the boy and me are both the owners, I heard a knock at my door. “Jane, want some cupcakes?” She asked and I nodded. She sat next to me on my bed. “What’s with that sad face?” She asked and I pouted. Should I tell her? Maybe she thinks I’m crazy? But she is my mom, she might understand me. “Mama?” I called her. “Yes baby? Tell Mama anything. I really want to give the attention I didn’t gave you for the past years. Tell Mama and I’ll do what I can do.” She said that made me smile. “Mama, uhmmm… For the past few days I get sadder because I’m going to leave. It’s not because I don’t want to go to Crystal Blue but—“ I was cut off when she continued my sentence. “But you don’t want to leave him alone, do you?” She asked and I nodded. She giggled which made me looked at her. “Aigoo. I think my dear Jane just got her first crush.” She said as she pinched my cheek. Crush? On him? Jinja? “Tell me, do you feel happy with him?” She asked and which I nodded. “Do you want to be with him and stay together?” She asked again and again, I nodded. “Lastly, do you feel sad when he’s not around?” She played with my hair. “Yes Mama.” She giggled again. “My Jane is now growing up.” She said and hugged me. She sang my favorite lullaby that she made up just for me. My Sweet angel come now, come now. It’s time to sleep. Close your eyes, cause Mama’s here. My sweet angel come now, come now. Mama’s here. The next day, the boy again visited us. It’s our last day together. Tomorrow, we’ll leave. We played all day until it was night. I wanted him to see my favorite place, Crystal Paradise. We sat down on a rock on the small waterfall at our backyard. The side of it is the way down to a cave, Crystal Paradise but the way is covered with a huge rock-like door which hides it from outsiders. No one else except my father and Appa’s friends were allowed here. Only me, my siblings and Mama knows this place cause Appa always brings me here to bond. I pulled him to follow me and we stopped at the rock-like door. “What are we doing here?” He asked. “I’ll show you something amazing.” I said and pressed a small rock which made the door open. He gasped. As we enter, it was dark. “Jane, let’s get out of here. It’s dark.” He said. “Wait.” I memorize the path going from the door to the place. I opened the curtains which made the moonlight shine on the Crystal on the desk which reflected on other crystals on wall light holders and made the room bright. “WOAH!” He was amazed.”Beautiful, isn’t it? I asked. He nodded. “Welcome to my Favorite place on the surface of this huge world!” I said. We sat down on chairs and stared at the moon. Until we both called our names. “You go first.” I said. He took a deep breath.”Ok. We’ve known each other for 13 days already right?” He asked and I nodded. “You’re really kind, nice, sweet and chubby.” I pouted. Chubby? “Not ugly chubby but cute chubby hehe.” He explained which I smiled at. He showed his pinky figure. “I want to hang out with you everyday. I won’t get bored at you. Please promise me to be together forever?” He said. I looked at his pinky. I was sad. I can’t just tell him about I will leave after this. I looked at him and he was waiting. “I promise to be your friend for eternity.” I said as I intertwined my pinky with his. He smiled. At least I’ll be his friend from a far, right? The next day we put our bags in the car. I’ll miss this place. I look around if he was around but he wasn’t there. Maybe it’s better if he won’t see me. He might cry and I don’t want to see that. Mama already told his mom about our flight today. Maybe she would tell him. “Jane, let’s go.” My mom called. “Yes Mama.” I sat on the backseat. As we start leaving, I heard someone calling my name. It’s him. I just covered my ears. I saw he was running from our house while his mom was following him. “Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.” I said repeatedly. Mom was looking at me, worried. Sorry to leave you. I’m very sorry. Please forgive me. I saw he tripped and started crying. I don’t want to watch. Sorry. End of Flashback Around 4 o’clock both of us went to our own rooms. I went in the bathroom and showered. I put on a t-shirt and some shorts that reach my knee. I went down and decided to cook breakfast. The chef is on his day off. As I started cooking, I saw a glass half empty with milk. I looked at it. Who might it belong? It’s impossible if Triton or Zelsy are the ones who drank this. Firstly, they would finish it no matter what. Second, it’s night. They’re scared of the dark, they are very sleepy during this hour, and lastly, they already drank their milk. I just drank it. What? It’s just milk and it’s like newly made. It would be a waste if we just pour it. I put the glass in the dishwasher. I continued cooking and went to the living room to finish this week’s work so more free time!! (Kai’s POV) I woke up due to the snore of our nosiest members, Chanyeol, Chen and Baekhyun. They’re loud even at their sleep. I tried covering my ears with a pillow but their snores are very loud. I just got up from bed and went out of our assigned room. I was about to go downstairs when I saw two people at the balcony. It was Mike and Jane. They were laughing at something and they looked very close. My eyes glued at Jane. She’s somewhat familiar. Argh! Forget it. I was about to continue walking when I heard Jane shout. “He needs to know nothing. He’s fine right now. He probably doesn’t even remember me.” Who are they talking about? Wait, wait. Kai, don’t mind other people’s business. You did that to her once and you were wrong. I saw Mike was worried. It’s my first time seeing him liked that. He’s never worried about anything. He’s confident with anything. I just decided not to look anymore and went to the kitchen. A glass of warm milk could help me sleep again. I drank it until it was half-empty when I noticed the moon shining bright. I suddenly remembered something. I put down the glass and went back upstairs. Mike and Jane were still talking but I just ignored them. I went back to our room and slept even their snores were unbearable. I woke up and saw no one was inside the room. Aishh! I woke up late again. I fixed my hair and went downstairs. I went to the dining room and saw many were there. Some half-awake while others were looking at the food. It looked delicious! I sat down and waited for the signal for us to eat. “Why aren’t you all eating?” Rose noona asked while yawning as she took some food. “Should we wait?” Heechul hyung asked. “We thought we would wait for a signal to eat.” I said. “Yes. The signal is if the food is already on the table, eat. These guys are just sleepy to get food. We usually wake up during 6:30 or something but mostly woke during 6 because of the food’s smell.” She said. The power of food is amazing! Hahaha! We dive in and started eating. “I wonder who cooked these. It’s so so so delicious!!” Rose noona exclaimed. “Didn’t your chef cooked these?” Jonghyun hyung asked. Many were already here. This dining room is so big! “Ani. It’s his day off today.”She explained. “Jane did these.” A guy said. Who was this again? “Josh Jung, Mike’s little brother.” He said. How did he—Is he a Black Element? I just ignored the thought and continued eating until Troy came in with two kids. They’re the ones that we saw with Troy last night. They sat down at the other end of the long table, near to the fireplace. The boy kid went to Gina noona while the girl sat on Troy’s lap. “Morning everyone.” He greeted. “Annyeonghaseyo.” The kids greeted too. “You have kids?” One of the girls asked. He nodded. Many of us almost spit out of our food. Him? Kids? Who’s the mother? Gina noona? We looked at her. “Ani, ani. I’m not the mother.” She said. “Annyeonghaseyo, I’m Hoon Min a.k.a Zelsy. I’m Dad’s first born.” The girl introduced cheerfully. “Annyeonghaseyo! I’m Joon Min a.k.a Triton. Dad’s second born.” The boy introduced too. “So you’re married?” The girls asked. “Actually, I’m divorced.” He said. Now, mostly everyone almost choked. “I was arranged to marry my bestfriend but we both hate the idea so after some years, we divorced.” He explained. I looked at the kids like the others are doing too. Does these kids know what’s divorce is? “We live with Umma in America but Appa always visits us no matter what. If we have free time we always go around the world. Sometimes with Umma too. Even though we don’t have them together, we’re still happy.” The girl said. Woah! She knows. She talks maturely. Troy just smiled and fed his daughter while Gina fed Triton. “Appa, where’s Jane noona?” Triton asked. Zelsy nodded and swallowed what she ate. “Yeah, where is she?” She asked. “She’s probably in the living room. Doing some final reviews on her work or something.” He answered. We just continued eating. Mike and Josh finished eating and was about to leave when Troy hyung called Mike. “So Mike, how’s Jane’s first day of school?” He asked. I got a little nervous. What if he told him about what I called Jane? “Nothing special. Just this arrogant girl said that she’s better bla bla bla. She splashed water on Jane and took her clothes when she was swimming. ” He said. That was nothing? How can that be nothing? “Her name is Yan SonJi a.k.a Yasmine. 2nd daughter of Yan family, the 5th richest family in Seoul. She’s studying Bachelor of Arts, major Biology. Created the Beauty Club in the school and she is the President.” He said. Does he really look into students’ info? Wow! Being the school’s Counsel President must be hard. Organizing events and etc. must be really tiring. “Ok. Be good at school, ok? Don’t sleep too much too. You’re the Counsel President.” Troy hyung said. “ Nae, I won’t” Mike replied and bowed. He left followed by Paulo. We won’t be attending school today because of an important meeting with our (EXO) parents with Black Crystal’s CEO. After some minutes, mostly everyone was finished eating. “Where’s our gifts anyway, oppa?” Rose noona asked. “You haven’t seen it yet? I put them in the second living room. Jane must’ve seen it already. 19 boxes and there’s only one for Jane so don’t complain about why does Jane have more boxes than all of you.” He said. Noona just pouted. “Because you treat her more kindly than us.” She complained. So Troy hyung treats Jane more than the others? “Because she’s a kid and you know why I do that, right?” He said while chuckling. “Ok but don’t give her more gifts than us anymore. I’m kinda jealous.” We chuckled at Noona’s childish behavior. We decided to open the boxes they were talking about in the livingroom. As we enter, the curtains were closed and we saw a figure on the sofa. The Big wide TV screen showed what she was typing and it was a……….. fan fiction? She’s a writer? “Looks like you have another story to write.” Michael hyung said, ending the silence. “Good morning.” Jane greeted us. “You’re finished with your work?” He asked. “Nae. And with 20% of next week’s work. I have no meetings for this week except for the Parents Meeting. What group was I meeting again?” She asked. Don’t tell me she’s…. “EXO.” Troy hyung answered. “EHH?” That was EXO’s reaction. “Aigoo.. Open the curtains will you? You need some vitamin D.” Angeline noona said while nearing the windows. “Noooo- Ah! My eyes! They burn!” She shouted when Noona finally opened the curtains. Jane’s POV As the rays of the sun hit my eyes, I hissed. After having only 2 hours of sleep plus 1 hour in front of my dear laptop. I slightly closed my eyes and fixed my glasses. My glasses help. My eyes are somewhat blurry but they say they don’t because I can still see people’s faces one kilometer away from me. My eyes finally adjusted to the brightness of the room. “What were you doing in this dark room, huh? Calling all the evil souls? Aigoo, sunshine is healthy.” Angeline unnie said as she sat next to me. The others also sat down. We have a lot of sofas here and long ones too so everyone is fit in here. “Yes, I know but too much sunlight may cause you some skin problem like sunburn.” She answered. Hey, I got a point you know. “You said Jane has only one box but why does she have two boxes named after her?” I heard Rose unnie said. “The other one is for my godchildren. Don’t be so childish. I’m younger than you.” Yes, I have godchildren. Hihihi. Nine actually. 5 girls and 4 boys. Oldest is nine while the youngest is four years old. I slowly opened my box. I haven’t look at it yet, only my godchildren’s box. As I opened it, my eyes widen. “Oppa! What is this?!” I loudly asked as I show a WEDDING DRESS! Why on earth would he give me this? “Oh, that’s a wedding dress.” He simply answered. “I know what is this but why are you giving me this?” I asked. It’s not like it’s ugly or something. It’s really beautiful. The dress was long and is a strapless one. The upper part had gems glittering. The center, lower of my chest, has this red heart-shaped red sapphire. It had not too much jewelry. Most of it was on my chest area. The lower part was long. It looks like it would reach my ankles and it had 2 layers. Inner layer was a pure white thick silk while the outer layer was a transparent shining silk. It was puffy dress. The girls just squealed at how pretty it is. I was about to say I won’t accept it when Troy started talking. “My friend wanted to give you that. She worked so hard for a month to complete that design. She really wants you to have it. Badly. She would be disappointed if you refuse it.” He informed me. Aish! They know that I don’t wear wedding dresses. I just sighed and nodded, saying I’ll keep it. Troy patted my head and said, “Good girl.” I put it back in the box. I looked at the other gifts. Teddy bears, dresses, food and gadgets were in there. This is usually what Troy gives us as gifts. I went back to my laptop and took a folder. One by one, I gave them a paper. “These are your schedules today. Don’t worry, it’s not too many.” I said as I gave the last paper to the leader of one group. “Not too many?! 12 photo shoots, 3 commercial shoots, 4 fan sign events and a 5 hour practice!” Kyung yoon, the leader of our newly debuted group, said. “Don’t complain. That’s the least you can get Did you know, after a day after my debut I had 15 photo shoots, 5 commercial shoots, 7 fan sign events in different cities in this world and a 7 hour practice?! Don’t you dare complain because your seniors had a busier schedule back then than you do. Understand?” I fired back. He just kept quiet. Aigoo. Rookies today. Tsk, tsk, tsk. “Where’s mine?” Troy Appa asked. “You have none. Mrs. Walder said you’ll have a day off today because you attended the auctions that she was supposed to attend and it’s a thanks for getting the real priceless arts.” I said. “Most of your schedule is postponed until tomorrow so have a nice day off!” I added. “You should take a rest and stop making our schedules, Jane.” Kevin said. I just sarcastically laugh. “Ha. Ha. Ha. You can’t fool me. And besides, I like finishing work early for more free days.” I said. “You all should get ready to leave for your schedules. You too. “ I said to everyone in this room. “Oh, EXO! About later’s meeting, we’ll meet at the country club. The driver who’ll drive your parents knows where it is.” I informed them and they nodded. After an hour or so, everyone already left. I changed my clothes and was about to head off when I saw Troy oppa. “Appa!” I called. “Yes?” He asked. “Where will you go later?” I asked. “At mom’s house. The kids misses their Grandma. You’re leaving?” I nodded. “Uhm… Appa, why choose EXO if there’s a lot of other rookie groups out there?” I asked all of the sudden. “Because I know he’s one of them.” To Be Continued
