My Sun and Shield For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. Psalm 84:11-12 COMMENTS: God is a sun and shield. What is so great about the sun? It gives light. Without it we would be totally dependent on artificial light. Light shows things as they truly are. Without God, the Light, we are not seeing things as they truly are. Even today, with dark and gloomy rain clouds obscuring the sky, it is still light outside. The sun gives warmth. Our air would be freezing outside without the warmth from the sun. Gods love is better than warmth. He loves us unconditionally. He loves us as much when we are messing up as when we were cute little rosebud-lipped babies! Whats so great about a shield? Silly! You know the answer to that question. From what does God shield you? Whatever you want! Are you being attacked by mean people, fear, anger, illness, or money problems? Is there anything else from which you need to be shielded? Thats what God can do for you! He is THE Ultimate Shield! There are no holes in that shield! There are no weak spots in that shield! It is available to you. God will give you grace and glory. Grace: favor, kindness. Glory: honor, esteem. Want to be shown favor and kindness from and be honored and esteemed by the One who created the universe? He can treat you nicer than you can treat yourself! You interested? It is available to you. NO GOOD THING will He withold from you if you walk uprightly. Upright: with honesty and integrity. Ah, theres the rub! How can we do that? The next sentence is the answer. Trust in Him to help you. If you put your trust and faith in Him and allow Him to have control over your life then you will walk uprightly. You will do better than that. You will begin to ooze the love of God out of your life. You will begin to have the attributes of God. Once you develop a close relationship with God you will automatically begin wanting to do the things He wants you to do and saying the things He wants you to say. As a result, He blesses you abundantly. You cant even name all the blessings, but you feel totally blessed. It is a hard thing to describe but I can try to sum it up in just one word. It is GLORIOUS! Try it...I know you will like it!
