My Theory. Their are so many different kinds of animals. and they all live in their own habitat. some so microscopic that humans cant even see them. they have their own level of consciousness and ways of communication. they probably have companions and other animals that they love. they have lives and other, bigger animals that they have to watch out for. we humans are animals as well. so what if we are only a race of animals living our lives, our habitat being Mother Earth. Their must be another species bigger than us.
