My View in Daily FT today has analysed the implications of Sri Lankas not-so-good ranking in the global Rule of Law index 2014, just released by Washington DC based private initiative World Justice Project. Though SL has been ranked at 48 out of 99 countries and its score at 0.52 out of 1 is the highest in South Asia, its Rule of Law record has slipped away in all but two aspects: Order and Security and absence of corruption. Its overall score too has slipped away from 0.54 in 2012-13 to 0.52 in 2014. The survey has not covered the more controversial regions, namely, the North and the East.
