My WWII Veteran Father By Whoppo Reading the latest edition of the newsletter, I had to chuckle when EAS shared his F bomb experience and was reminded of my own slip of the tongue. I enlisted August of 69 and after Boot and ITR, I got my first leave in January 1970. Since it was only a few weeks after Christmas my family held the family Christmas dinner for my return. Sitting around the dining table was my Grandmother, Aunt, Mother and Father. After Grace I opened my yap amidst the clamor with, Pass the Fing salt. The chatter immediately stopped and it was so quiet that you could hear a VC crawling through the elephant grass.
