My Wrap Up from last weekends wines Sept. 19th & 20th This weekends wines were perhaps the most evenly split as far as who liked what. If someone liked the Once Upon a Vine Chardonnay the next person would prefer the Jailbreak Pinot grigio and it went this way for all weekend. Funny how different we look at the taste of wines but then again thats why some many different wines are out there. I have always said that almost all wines are good we just prefer certain ones but we need to find good in all wine unless it is flawed in some way. Here goes the wrap up; Friday 4-7 pm, Matt Walker one of our sales reps will be here to explain the wines 1. Once Upon a Vine Chardonnay CA $15.99/$10.99 this was the powerhouse wine of the night with a ripe pineapple and a trace of toasty oak, good mouth feel very pleasant finish long aftertaste 2. Jail Break Pinot Grigio Columbia Valley WA $17.99/$9.99 the lady of the night, soft citrus aromas backed up with a crushed rock minerality to it, pleasant crisp acid leaves the palate with a clean fresh aftertaste 3. Jail Brak Malbec Mendoza Argentina $19.99/$11.99 loaded with ripe dark fruit aromas mingled with an earthy mineral tone, smooth and medium full on the palate, smooth tannins, nice long finish 4. Jail Break Cabernet Sauvignon Central Coast CA $19.99/$11.99 normally I prefer Malbec to Cabernet but not in this case not to down play the Malbec but the Cabernet had pleanty of ripe red and dark fruit aromas, firm tannins without being bitter, long true Cabernet finish with being a toatl fruit bomb Saturday 2-5pm This tasting the same held true about the wines evenly split 1. B&G Rose Sparkling France $14.99/$6.99 very pleasant strawberry, cherry and watermelon aromas, crisp and bubbly, perfect appetizer wine crisp acid finish with the fruit flavors right there 2. Vigilance Sauvignon Blanc Red Hills, Lake County CA $7.99/$5.99 green apple and just a hint of fresh herb aromas kick off this gem, crisp pear and flower follow on the palate perfect as a starter or as a dinner wine, I think this is one of the better bargains in the store and we bought the last 50 cases they wont last long 3. Tierras Altas Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza Argentina $12.99/$7.99 among no other wines was the group more evenly split than between these two red wines, the Cabernet had lots of ripe dark fruit, earth and baking spice in it, firm tannins, dusty earth and a long finish with dried herbs on the very end, wonderful savory food wine 4. Trapiche Syrah Mendoza Argentina $12.99/$5.99 dark purple color with plenty of blueberry/cassis aromas with plenty of earth and black pepper aromas, rich and full bodied on the palate long long finish with plenty of the blueberry/cassis and rich earth, GREAT VALUE Cheese Line Up;Even the cheeses were extremely well received especially the two from the Deli the Swiss & Rye and the Yogurt & Sun Dried tomato, I liked them so much there is some in my frig.
