My advice to new authors: Welcome!!! Were so happy youve joined the ranks and we (well, most of us, are here to encourage you)! Hang in there. Write. Revise. Wash, rinse, repeat. Do this several times! Find trustworthy beta readers. An editor to whip your work into shape! People you trust to give you constructive feedback! And honestly, take most of the advice you get (from blanket industry statements) with a grain of salt. Listen to your gut. Go with your instincts. Im not saying you wont get bad advice, but, well, you will. I was once told there no such thing as writers block, its only laziness. That didnt kill a few self esteem points! Yeah, this past 6 week writers block, apparently I was just a bum. Be prepared. Things happen. People change. You change. Since I started writing, friendships have changed and evolved and thats okay!! As life changes, so do we. Just accept it. Anywho, dont ever comment on reviews. Nothing good comes from that. Dont flood your feed with rankings. If you make best seller, yay! Share it! If you dont make best seller, still share! Regardless of how you rank, you published a book!! How cool is that?! Just dont too crazy posting excessively. And most importantly, have fun! Live and breathe your characters. And promote the hell out of them. ** **My advice means nothing really.
