My beautiful Mamaw Kinney, Estelle Mae Heck McCormick Kinney, one of her senior pictures from the graduating class of 1938 from Sharples High School, She was the only one of her 10 brothers and sisters to graduate High School, so we are so proud of her. I wanted to share Mamaws From Scratch Hot Roll Recipe, they are awesome..... Hot Rolls: 1 Cup of Sweet Milk 2/3 Cup Sugar 2 teaspoons salt 4 Tablespoons Crisco (Shortening) 1 Cup Warm Water 2 Packages of Dry Yeast 5 Cups of Flour 2 Eggs Take Milk, Sugar, Salt & Shortening and Melt or warm on stove, take the yeast and dissolve in the warm water and set aside. Pour Milk, sugar, salt, & Shortening out in a bowl to cool. Gradually mix half of your flour to this mixture. When you get so much mixed, add the beaten eggs, then add your yeast and the balance of the flour, let it raise most of the day in a warm room (4-8 hours, depending on warmth of room, when it has expanded to a larger volume, beat it down and make into one inch balls, place in a greased roll pan and let it rise again, preheat oven to 350 degrees, bake the rolls for 12-16 minutes in oven or until golden brown......these are delicious and my mom used to make them every weekend for us when I was growing up....GOD bless you Mamaw Heck cant wait to see you again one day...Love, Tommy Elliott Here Aunt Lin, is the recipe you ask for:
