My blog for YTOC newsletter: In loving Memory I recently lost a very beloved member of my family, my dog Moe. A very healthy 11 year old Border Collie mixed with Rotweiller. I had no idea he had cancer. We went to the vet because of a limp and I am thinking arthritis and I am hearing from the vet aggressive, deadly, he might not make it through the night cancer. It is times like these you become aware that life itself changes in the blink of an eye. You notice the breath that just left your lungs will never be that same breath, the thoughts within will never happen again. We let go every second in every moment of our lives. Sometimes it takes somethings devastating to happen or something miraculous to happen in our lives for us to become aware that letting go is always occurring. I had a week and a half with him. There were mostly good days but the days that were bad were agonizing. To watch a loved one suffer is beyond explanation. Your mind weakens, your spirit almost deteriorates. But it also makes you aware of the beauty in life…about recognizing the gifts that come from our sorrows. “No matter how dark the world seems, there is always a place of light within” I knew when Moe was ready..he told me through the look in his eyes. While he was transcending, I held him close, and I believe I felt every human feeling possible at the moment. Giving birth is overwhelming with joy, being with a loved one during death is overwhelming with sadness. These two moments in life create the most powerful emotions possible. “What we once enjoyed we can never lose, all that we love deeply becomes a part of us” Moe will always be a part of me, in mind and spirit. The grief that immersed my heart is a normal reaction to loss. It is a day by day process that you cannot ignore, but only embrace. Without grief there is no love, without love…there is nothing. I am so grateful to have had Moe in my life. He really was the most loyal, devoted, and loving dog. He will always be my peaceful warrior. Om Shanti
